“A small, compact fast boiling backpacking stove.”
Features
The MSR PocketRocket II is a tough, compact backpacking stove. Just under four ounces only counting the stove itself and a boil time under five minutes. As its arms fold in to create a smaller stove and easier to store.
Also MSR added a new feature, the windscreen, it separates the burner into thirds even if two thirds are blown out by the wind, the other third (still lit) will relight the blown out thirds, so you don’t have to worry about constantly relighting your stove.
Testing it out
I bought this stove in 2022. I first used it on two backpacking trips, one to Tahoe National Forest and the other to Yosemite backcountry. Which are both high elevation trips, the stove performed great.
Then I took it to Mt. Tamalpais, which is right next to the pacific coast, in the mornings it can be windy and the stove’s flame was blown out a few times. (thanks to the windclip, the flame just kept burning.) the wind does slow down the boiling but doesn’t stop it.
MSR makes great stoves, strong, reliable, high quality. even if you don’t buy this stove i would recommend looking on MSR’s website.
This stove scored ten out of ten in my book. I would suggest this stove to any backpacker or just for someone who wants a backup stove.
